Molly - 1994-2005 Sydney - 1994-2002
Molly was the first dog that came to live with my husband and I as a married couple. It was his idea to get a dog and a rottweiler at that! One of those “big, vicious dogs!!” I thought, (and how wrong I was!) I wasn’t really an animal person at the time, even though I was as a child. Molly stole my heart and for the first time I really got to know a dog. Her sister Sydney, through a turn of fate, was able to come live with us a year later. Our dogs became our life and we were completely devoted to them. Because of them we became involved in championing the rights of all sentient beings and then became involved in animal rescue efforts. We are currently stepping up those efforts to help even more animals and to educate people on how many animal lives are destroyed in shelters every year due to overpopulation from irresponsible breeding, promoting spaying and neutering and responsible animal guardianship. Thank you Molly & Sydney for opening up our eyes to a whole new and better life! |

Emma - ? - Aug. 2006
My first hospice care dog. She was with us for 6 weeks and she was the reason I decided to do hospice care and take in elderly rottweilers. Thank you Emma for blessing us with your presence!

“Big” Jake ? - Dec. 2007
Jake was the biggest, sweetest rottie we ever met. He was a comedian and didn’t even know it. He was a member of our family for 2 years when we lost him to bone cancer at about 4 years of age. This gentle giant suffered from the worst case of arthritis our vet had ever

seen in a dog his age, and still his sweet demeanor was never ending. When we picked him up at animal control, he was just recovering from wounds received from being shot by buckshot. His previous owner let him roam around, and a neighbor decided to shoot him. It breaks my heart to think of this sweet guy who was previously unwanted, almost lost his life at animal control and then suffered with arthritis and then bone cancer in such a short life. He was a trooper who loved life and didn’t let it get him down. What an inspiration!
We miss you Jake. |

Zeke June 2005 - Feb. 2008
Zeke was the most famous member of our farm, everyone who came over met a turkey they would never forget. What a personality this guy had. He was more of a watch dog than a turkey. He would alert us when someone drove up the driveway. He loved to follow us around and be where the action was. He loved to go for walks with us and the dogs. He would sit on the front deck railing and look in the kitchen window, always wanting to be near us. He was very proud of himself and always walked around puffed up and gobbling. Unfortunately, Zeke died from an infection due to a dog attack. We and many others are saddened by his loss, and he will be greatly missed. |

Buddy AKA “Bud Man” 1997 - April 2008
This is Buddy. He was a senior rottie rescued from a shelter in WI. He spent the last 1 1/2 years here until he passed away from old age. I likened him to an old prize fighter way past his prime but didn’t know it, or maybe just didn’t want to accept it. He had dignity, pride and attitude! No one could tell him what to do! He had arthritis, but never let it get him down, or slow him down. He was a very sweet boy who we are so thankful we got to know! Thanks for the good times Bud! |

Ben was a sweet soul who touched many lives. He came from an inner city animal control in Gary, Indiana where he was going to be euthanized due to lack of space. It was a miracle that got him out and on his way to MN. Everyone on the transport fell in love with Gentle Ben.
Ben succumbed to cancer 7 weeks after his arrival. He was heartworm positive, had a huge tumor in his chest along with many other problems due to owner neglect.
We all are so fortunate to have known this gentle soul. It is too bad his time here of enjoying the good life was so short. |
